From the Harford County Public Library:
The annual Literary Spelling Bee at the Harford County Farm Fair was filled with excitement for spellers and readers alike. Hosted by Harford County Public Library, forty participants from children through adult competed in this year’s event on July 28.
Children enjoyed spelling words like “swan” from The Ugly Duckling and “chimney” from Mary Poppins. Adults were challenged with words like “pachyderms” and “connoisseur.” All participants were given a Farm Fair ribbon and small prize from the Library. The first, second and third place winners were also allowed to choose a new book from the library plus the Library mascot, Tales, was in attendance to cheer on the children and take pictures with the winners.

Entering Grades 1-2:
· First Place- Sophia Cramer
· Second Place- Evelyn Gutierrez
· Third Place- Maya Modi
Entering Grades 3-4:
· First Place- Lizzy Kelly
· Second Place tie- Elysa Puglionesi, Aman Tripatchi, Jeremy Jestel
Entering Grades 5-6:
· First Place- Nica Garin
· Second Place- Mackenzie Alderson
· Third Place- Carlton Moss
Entering Grades 7-8:
· First Place- Vijay Modi
· Second Place- Darby Hyde
· Third Place- Mikayla King
Adults:
· First Place- Barbara Kreamer
· Second Place tie- Lani Hyde, Katie Holter, Bethany Evans
