From Harford County government:
Harford County welcomes 11 female cyclists traveling from Florida to New York as part of Bike 4 Friendship Women. The all-female team will stop in Bel Air, Maryland on Wednesday, July 24.
Bike 4 Friendship raises funds and awareness for children with special needs through an annual bike tour across America. The bike tour, which debuted in 2011, was met with an enthusiastic response and succeeded in raising funds to benefit Friendship Circle, an international non-profit Jewish organization that provides programs and support to the families of individuals with special needs.
The group rides 60-80 miles a day starting at 6am and works to finish by early afternoon to beat the heat. There is also a men’s team riding from San Diego and a teen group riding from Washington, DC. The plan is for the three groups to meet July 28 in New York.
Harford County Government will present a proclamation to the group for their impressive efforts to help others. Bel Air Mayor Eddie Hopkins will also present a proclamation to the cyclists.
The event will be held at 5:30pm at 41 South Main Street in Bel Air, Maryland, in the lot between the Tower Restaurant and the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters.
