(OAKWOOD, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating the death of a 51 year old male found along a main road in Cecil County.
The deceased is identified as Mark T. Grubbs, of the 400 block Wheeler School Road in Pylesville, Maryland. Grubbs was pronounced dead at the scene.
At approximately 2:40 a.m. this morning, Maryland State Police from the North East Barrack were called to U.S. Route 1 in the area of the Conowingo Dam for a report of a man lying in the roadway. Once on the scene, troopers observed a male lying in the road and immediately attempted to resuscitate him. Emergency medical personnel arrived and pronounced Grubbs dead at the scene.
Troopers initially believed that Grubbs was involved in a motor vehicle collision. Upon further investigation, the injuries to Grubbs lead investigators to believe his death may not have resulted from a motor vehicle crash.
Troopers summoned Maryland State Police crime scene technicians and investigators from the State Police Homicide Unit. The body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
