From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
Harford County Sheriff’s deputies, have identified the victim(s) in a fatal auto accidents which occurred last night in Belcamp. Jenna Nicole Pollock, 15, of the 400 block of Ruby Drive in Aberdeen, died at the scene of the 2 car crash, which occurred on Brass Mill Road at Mercedes Drive in Belcamp.
Pollock was a passenger in a 2010 Nissan Versa along with Kyle Johnson, 18 of the 4200 block of Cowan Place in Belcamp, and Colin Ellison, 17, of the 200 block Halls Chance Lane, also in Belcamp. The Nissan collided with a 2007 Ford Explorer pick-up truck operated by Harold Blume Jr., 62, of the 1200 block of Annhurst Ct in Belcamp.
Ellison was treated at the scene by medics from the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company and then transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center by Maryland State Police Medivac. Johnson was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview and Blume was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center both by ambulance. At the time of this release both Blume and Johnson had been released from the hospital. Ellison was still hospitalized however his injuries were not believed to be life threatening and is expected to be released later today.
The crash occurred at 8:52pm at the intersection of Brass Mill Road and Mercedes Drive in Belcamp. The Nissan was travelling south on Brass Mill Road when it was alleged to have crossed the center like striking the Explorer head on. Speed is also being listed as a contributing factor in the crash. Crash reconstructionist(s) from the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit responded and investigated the scene. Their investigation is ongoing and police have not yet identified who was driving the Nissan nor has it been positively determined where the victims were seated at the time of the crash. Investigators will also seek to determine if the occupants were wearing seat belts. Brass Mill Road was closed for approximately three hours while investigators reconstructed the accident scene. While there have been traffic deaths on State roads in Harford County, this is the first traffic fatality on County roadways in 2013.

I knew Jenna Pollock, she was a really sweet funny girl. She shouldn’t of died so young, i want to know if it was yet determined if the driver or other occupants in the car were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This is a tragedy and so many of Jenna, Colin, and Kyle’s friends are worried sick. Jenna will always be remembered, fly high Jenna.

Question; Why was a 15yr old girl in a car with 17 & 18yr old boys? Just curious.
Captain Oblivious says
Uh, she probably knew them from school. What is the point of your curiosity? I don’t find it unusual for this to occur.
F.L. says
Being a Father, I “personally” do and it seems a bit odd at this time of night. But then again, I’m old school. Just being a parent. Nothing more~nothing less.
Captain Oblivious says
It wasn’t even 9:00pm on a Thursday night during summer vacation when the accident occurred. I seriously think that some of you need to find better things to complain about than this. How about offering your condolences? My thoughts and prayers go out to Jenna and her family.
damon says
I knew all three of them. It was still early for a summer night. And the 15 year old was dating the 17 year old. Both went to the same high school so age difference is perfectly fine with them both being in high school. They were all good friends! We all also knew austin that also passed in the head on collison on this past new years eve.

It’s tough these days to teach kids of driving age responsiblity when they’re behind the wheel. It’s troubling just as a private citizen to be out and about daily and see kids driving habits. They have a blatant disregard for safety. A tragedy such as this should serve as an example to show you aren’t invincible and bad things can and will happen. Tragedies like this effect everyone. It destroys families, it makes young, responsible driver almost unable to afford car insurance rates. It also raises everyone else’s insurance rates. I don’t know what the answer is but something needs to be done to protect young lives.
Captain Oblivious says
Wow, I’m sure the victims family feels better knowing their daughter’s death spurned a remark like this. You are more concerned about Insurance Rates than this young woman’s demise? Once again, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the deceased.
Mad at everything says
What the hell are you talking about? Did you miss the part where I said it was a tragedy and families are torn apart by this sort of incident? I was simply giving examples of how this effects more than just the victims. Nothing I said takes away this being a terrible incident. The investigation states that speed was a factor which implies negligence. And even though my heart goes out to the family and friends of the departed, this tragedy was avoidable. The lose of this child’s life was unnecessary, and the day you have to respond to that scene and see something like this tragedy that should not have happened, maybe you’ll see the big picture. Try telling a parent they won’t see their child again over a car accident that shouldn’t have happen and feel how that tears you apart.
Captain Oblivious says
I don’t agree with you. Your comments did include the word “Tragedy”, but also included, “serve as an example to show you aren’t invincible and bad things can and will happen”. You were using this as a public service announcement! You then went on about the insurance rates. You and your five thumbs up are completely wrong and need to pick another forum to further your agenda…….
Captain Oblivious says
I find it hard to believe that my comment here was thumb downed 13 times to the point of being hidden. You people are shameful.
Mike Hunt says
I’m worried about insurance rate hikes, bro.
Captain Oblivious says
First off, I’m not your bro. Second, worrying about insurance rates and not the well being of the family and the victim is just plain awful. Like I said, use another article to push your agenda…..
Mike Hunt says
Bro, I am just really concerned about my insurance rates.
Mad at everything says
Everything I said was true. It would seem that your comments were far less meaningful and lacked far less compassion than mine. The problem is is that I said all that and the only thing you could take from it was insurance. Perhaps I should have broadened my examples in my first post, color me guilty if that’s what you’re hung up on. But you sir or ma’am are a troll, trolls worry about whether or not you get thumbs up on the dagger(or other forms of social media). I don’t care whether you like what I have to say or not, remember, you started this with me, and I will defend myself. The problem with people like you? You’re so sure your opinion is right that you fail to take into account anyone else’s. I said a lot of things in my posts. All you could be is a lame smart ass with nothing intellectual to add. Thing is too, I didn’t even give you a “thumbs down” because you’re allowed to be lame, close minded, uniformed and a smart ass. And if I wish to tell people that I think teen drivers need to be safer on the road, I will. You don’t have to listen, comment or give me your arch nemesis the “thumbs down”, move on and take it as somebody’s opinion you don’t agree with. And captain oblivious, I have no agenda really, only to point out that tragedies such as these are avoidable. It’s quite apparent that your agenda is to further your agenda by telling me to leave this site. Get bent, I’m not going anywhere.
Captain Oblivious says
Actually, it seems to me that you and your “Brothers”,aka police officers, are on here saying some very disturbing things. No one wants you to go anywhere, just to act like the authority figure you are.
Captain Oblivious says
I’m referring to the fact that there was 13 thumbs down on one of my comments but then 4 of them vanished?!? How did you do that? As for everything else you said, whatever, I think people will read and see who is really attacking people. Seriously, how did you remove your thumbs down?
Captain Oblivious says
Whoa, how did you take back your thumbs down. I can’t do that on my computer.
Mad at everything says
You make absolutely no sense what so ever. I speak for me, and me alone. What’s disturbing is your inability to make a statement without coming across like an ass. I have no idea what you are talking about with your “thumbs down” bullcrap. You haven’t contributed anything constructive in this comment section other nonsensical stupidity. And even though I regard you and your ridiculous comments as much as turd in the grass, I almost have to ask WHY? You’ve said nothing, you expressed only the idea that you have a problem with law enforcement, you’ve only chosen to attack people and their comments on here, with a losing effort I may add and your comments show that you have an agenda… And it’s not to add condolences or well wishes, but to just be freaking annoying. Give it a rest, please. I’m sure you contribute nothing in your daily life to even try to make a difference. Go, make a difference, stop hiding behind the dagger and be productive. I’m going to get up in the morning, leave the house and try and make sure bad things don’t happen to people… Including you, even though you’re an ass and won’t appreciate it. I won’t care though, I know you don’t know any better.
Captain Oblivious says
Wow, you are a hateful wretch. I didn’t start using language like that. If you are a police officer, you should know better….
Mad at everything says
It’s the real world pal, and real language gets used. I tell you what, since you’ve added nothing but commenting on the words or wording used in my comments, I’m just gonna drop it. You haven’t shared a single valid opinion about what I said or for that matter, a valid opinion in any of your comments at all. All you’ve done is attempt to antagonize people commenting here. I’ve lost interest in you and you shenanigans. You are a waste of time. And trust me, I know better… Not about language that’s used but attempting to communicate with an individual that is completely in their own world, clearly has personality issues and is just flat out uneducated. I’m moving on, be well. I’m not afraid of you or your comments, I’m more sickened by your lack of open mindedness and disrespectful nature. And I don’t mean disrespectful to me, I deal with noncontributing members of society like you regularly. Good day.
The Truth About Youth_MeekMillz says
This was a very tragic accident. No I did not know either parties however, I share your pains. Passing by the aftermath of the situation literally took my breathe away, and brought tears to my eyes. It made me remember June 21st of 2006 when my brother lost his life on his bike. I began praying for the safety of the passengers and strength for the family. Later that night I learned that two of my co-workers had made the initial 911 call. Anyone working in the vicinity of this business park will tell you, the roads surrounding Mercedes can be dangerous during operating hours. It added comfort that a young man and women no older than 25 yrs old cared enough to make time during a 30 minute lunch break to make a call for help for the benefit of complete strangers. This accident has been on my mind since the day it happened, as well as the family’s well being. My prayers are with you!! This sad moment has affected my co-workers and i emotionally, we will never forget that!!! No one could plan an accident like that, and pointing the finger will not bring this young queen back, or the family and friends comfort. Support and time will do more than anyone person could do on their own.

This like so many other motor vehicle accidents are tragic, unnecessary, and life altering. Yes, I’m in full agreement that it was decent and kind of two strangers to make immediate calls to 911. Unfortunately, not all folks are cut of the same cloth. In my recent accident, where someone paying absolutely no attention to the road then hitting me from behind at 50 mph, destroying my spine and only vehicle I owned, found it important to take the time to call for help. Not one person even came to see if I were alive or dead. My point is PLEASE, if you pass an accident or a fellow human who appears in need of help, STOP and see if you can be of assistance. This poor child who perished lost her life. Her family will never be the same. The driver of the automobile has destroyed his life due to carrying around the gulit of the accident. The driver of the car who was minding his own business maybe trying to get home to his family will also endure suffering. There is no positive that ever comes out of car accidents, especially of this magnitude. Anyone who gets behind the wheel of a car has a huge responsibility to be safe and follow the rules of the road. In our youth, many of us have done things that we’re probably lucky didn’t end up in a tragedy such as this accident. As many have mentioned above, we should pray for ALL involved in this catastrophic event.
Mad at everything says
I’m sorry K, dealing with a particular individual I didn’t express the fact of the driver having to live with this horrific incident. That’s a hell of a weight to have to carry around. And don’t worry, there are still good people out there that will help someone in need. I swore to do that a long time ago and I stand by it. I’m glad you’re with us and for the most part ok. Hopefully one day things will get better, for everybody.
K says
Thank you for your kind words Mad (you seem level headed, not enraged). Your statement about responding to accident scenes and having to break bad news to loved ones sounds as if you’re a first responder – police officer, EMT, paramedic, etc.. If so, I can only imagine the tragic horrific events you’ve attended. Again, thank you for that also. The team that arrived at my accident were professional, helpful, and took great care of me. I totally understood your above comments and did not find any malice or disrespect directed at the victims of the car accident. Once on The Dagger I was commenting on something along the lines of what people liked about Summer. My response was the first corn, taken off the cob, cooked in butter and topped with the first jalapenos of the season. Much to my surprise I received a thumbs down. There are some very interesting characters who contribute to The Dagger chatter. I’ve totally diverged from the main point of this article which is the needless demise of a young girl and avoidable accident of an innocent bystander. I think that was also the gist of your sentiments which came through loud and clear.
Mad at everything says
You don’t have to thank me for doing , although I do appreciate, its what I’m supposed to do. My name on here is what it is because I can’t stand it when bad things happen to innocent people and the direction that society heads in sometimes. A lot of people on here probably know me, what I do and know my demeanor and if they don’t know who I am they probably have an idea. When I started in the law enforcement field 10 years ago, I told a friend I know I’ll never change the the world but if I can make just one difference then I’ve done something. And you know what? Who doesn’t like fresh buttered corn, it’s delicious. Keep your head up and stay positive, victims and families dealing with tragedies do appreciate it so thank you!

Young lives are lost tragically every day unnecessarily. It’s tragic and these children nowadays need to understand that they are not invincible, and that they do need to take care of what they do because it can have a HUGE impact on others. When you are driving, YOU are responsible for every person in your car, it is your responsibility to ensure they are wearing their seat belts. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that you abide by all the driving laws. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that you are FIT to drive and drive safely.
Speeding…Yes.
High on spice…Yes.
Not having the passengers wear seat belts…Yes.
Being held responsible and accountable for the loss of a life…NO!!!!!
WHY?! Why was the driver not held accountable?!!!!!! He basically got away with Murder!
