(Port Deposit, MD) – Investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit are investigating the death of a ten year old girl in Cecil County.
The deceased victim is identified as Kami Ring, 10, of the 600 block of Bladen Street in Charlestown, Maryland. Ring was found deceased yesterday evening in a field near a home where she had been staying. The child’s body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
Shortly after 11:00 a.m. yesterday, troopers from the North East Barrack responded to the 100 block of Waibel Road in Port Deposit, Maryland for a report of the missing ten year old. A resident of the home made the 9-1-1 call. Police were told the child was last seen inside the home on the night of June 9, 2013 when it was assumed she had gone to bed.
During the course of the initial investigation, police learned that Kami had been staying at the Waibel Road residence at the time of her disappearance. Kami’s grandparents and one other individual, related to the grandmother, reside at the home.
State Troopers, K-9 Units from the Maryland State Police and Natural Resources Police, along with Chesapeake Search and Rescue conducted a thorough search of the area. At 6:20 p.m. yesterday evening, the body of the deceased victim was discovered about sixty yards in front of the Waibel Road residence in a field near a shed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division responded to gather evidence. Assistance was provided by the Maryland State Police Child Recovery Unit, the MSP Gang Unit, the Maryland State Apprehension Team, and criminal investigators from the North East Barrack. The Cecil County State’s Attorney’s Office is being briefed as the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit continues the investigation.
At this time, investigators have several leads and persons of interest. Calls are being taken by the Maryland State Police North East Barrack at 410-996-7800. Calls will remain confidential.
Another news release I read said she lived with people who were not her relatives and the father wasn’t in the picture. I’m an armchair detective but my money’s on the father as the killer. Or maybe an unpaid drug debt?
When are the people of this country ever going to step up and take control of our world and what is most precious? Our children look to us with trust and innocence yet day after day this goes on. Animals protect their young better than humans. When is this ever going to stop!!!!!!!
Thoughts and prayers go out to this precious innocent child! We just sent our 10 year old daughter off to enjoy her last day of 4th grade today. I can’t even begin to fathom the pain that this child’s surviving loved ones will have to endure. Peace be with you, little one.
If she was indeed murdered, you can bet it was by a close acquaintence. May you rot in Hell, you sick, perverted, bastard. The State of Maryland surely will not give you justice, I can only hope that the good folk of Cecil County find a way to do so instead. An eye for an eye.

There was a post on the patch that there was a sex offender living in the house, If this was true than any adult that allowed this innocent child to be housed under that same roof should be charged for endangering the well being of a minor even if this mother fkr had nothing to do with the murder. If it is determined that this sex offender is responsible than all who knew of this persons past should be charged with murder. DB O’malley did away with the death penalty, whoever is responsible qualifies for death. There is no fixing a defect that is a child sexual predator, why in the “F” should taxpayers suffer the burden of providing for the defects? This is BS, there is no rational argument to save these defects.

What do they mean by assume that she went to bed. Don’t they know ? They family is 100% responsible for not protecting that child. Parents sent their kids off everyday, to their children’s friends house to play, or to spend the night, or to camp, and they don’t even know anything about the family. I see it everyday, and kids still walking alone , and parents not watching their kids. I see it when I go shopping , parents walking a mile in front of the children , and letting them go off in another part of the store alone. Have they learned nothing from missing and exploited children . What the hell is wrong with people!!!! Know where and who your children are with are at all times.
That’s the question i have been asking for years, what the hell is wrong with these people. What I’m about to state is no BS, it is a fact, I was a neighbor who witnessed it. I have seen 2-3-4 year old kids playing in the street with no parental supervision what so ever, my wife left for work one morning around 6am and seen a kid about 4 play in the street between two cars, no one was around. We had one parent that was too freakin lazy to watch her kids and bought a plastic baby sitter and put it in the middle of street, one of the little green guys with a flag that says slow. These a-hole parents think they have all the answers because their kids are young and still have some control. They really believe that everyone else should be looking out for “Their” kids but they need to step up and watch their own kids. BTW, this was in my poop dont stink bel air, not edgewood. I also called department of social services to report child neglect on these a-holes, dont know what the outcome was.
My daughter has been giving me S*** for the last couple of weeks as to why I don’t let her go do more things with whomever she wishes! Well this is why! I think this gave her a real reality check being it hit so close to home! No lie she has been by my side since Monday night! She used to say I was over protective, “What’s gonn happen mom?” now she sees! & it could be someone you trust! That is the worst part of all this! This will all play out in the next couple of days, we will know the truth of what happened! Maybe after that, this childs Mother will have some type of closure. I can not imagine having to go thru something like this at all!
