Fire officials are investigating a blaze that broke out in an SUV near freight train tracks in Joppa Wednesday night.
The fire was reported in a 2002 Ford Explorer at approximately 10:50 p.m. in a wooded area near Clayton Road and the CSX railroad crossing in Joppa, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office. A total of 15 firefighters from the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company brought the blaze under control in about an hour.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $15,000. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bel Air office of the State Fire Marshal’s Office at 410-836-4844.
