INCIDENT: Abduction and Attempted Sexual Assault
DATE/TIME: May 14, 2013 approximately 11:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Bel Air, Maryland
Bel Air Police are investigating an abduction and attempted sexual assault that began in the area of Marketplace Drive and Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Highway (Maryland Route 24). The victim reported stopping to help the suspect as he was waving for help along the roadside. The suspect forced his way into the car and drove the victim to a location in Abingdon or Edgewood where he attempted to sexually assault the victim.
The suspect is described as an African American male between 40 and 60 years of age. He is medium build with a medium to dark complexion and short cropped hair. He is approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall weighing between 190 & 200 pounds. He gave the name “Thomas” and said he was from the Abingdon or Edgewood Area.

Sounds legit.
No mention of victim’s identification. Could it have been a younger female possibly missing her curfew?
I hope its been proven legit without sounding the alarms first. As was the case in the grandma dropping off kids after school being warned as possible attempted child abduction.
then what happened, where did he go to? did he run? did he molest the person? what happpend next? why were they picking up a stranger?
I think we can afford to hire a forensic sketch artist around here. This case is 3 days old and counting, if she is telling the truth, there is a predator that needs to be snuffed out. The press release is nothing without a picture or a sketch.
Whoa – are these comments from men or women. Yes I am a female victim of sexual assualt and made to be a liar, circa 1967.
How did the person “force” themselves into the car, and what method was used to coerce / force the driver to drive the subject from one location to another? Why didn’t the driver flee the vehicle and call 911 as he was making his way in?
More to the point, who the HELL stops for anyone on the side of the road nowadays? Especially in / around Edgewood or “North Edgewood” ( Abingdon).
More to your point, probably no one. That’s why the article states it happened in Bel Air.
