From the Harford County Government:
(Bel Air, MD) – – The Harford County Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits (DILP), working in cooperation with the Department of Information Systems, has made technology enhancements that will now allow DILP to migrate from traditional file storage to electronic storage of construction documents. Presently, due to limited file storage space, DILP’s practice is to discard a large percentage of submitted documents after 180 days from the issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy.
The new electronic storage retrieval system will alleviate the need for maintain paper or “hard” copies of approved plans and will assist DILP inspectors in accessing documents while in the field on assignments.
Effective June 1, 2013, DILP will require an updated electronic copy, in a format such as PDF or TIF, of the building permit construction documents, be submitted to the Department once the plans have been reviewed and approved. Documents can be uploaded at www.harfordcountymd.gov: click on “Online Permit Inquires” which is located on the left side of the page under “Online Services”. On the next page that comes up, click on the tab, to the far right, which is identified as “DILP Submissions”; follow the directions provided and the subsequent page to complete the upload of documents.
