From the Maryland State Police, Bel Air Barrack:
(Street, Md.) On 5-10-13 at approximately 0003 hrs Troopers from the Bel Air Barrack responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Dublin Rd. (MD 440) east of Wilson Rd. Street, MD.
Upon arrival Troopers observed a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck located off the roadway where it had apparently impacted a tree. The investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle was Charles Garland Jr. of Whiteford, MD. Garland was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Garland was the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle.
Initially, it appears that the vehicle entered a curve at an excessive rate of speed and the driver was unable to safely negotiate the turn. It appears speed and alcohol are contributing factors in this collision however, the investigation is continuing.
