From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
[May 9, 2013, Joppa, MD] — A westbound CSX freight train struck and killed a pedestrian earlier today that was walking on the tracks near Joppa Road.
Shortly after 12 noon, CSX Police notified Harford County Sheriff’s deputies that a train had struck a subject walking on the tracks between the Rt. 152 overpass and the Joppa Road at-grade crossing in Joppa.
Deputies arrived to find Kevin Scott Street, 37, of Aberdeen, Maryland, had been struck and killed by the train. Deputies were told the train was travelling west towards Baltimore County. Street was observed walking west on the tracks and appeared to have ear buds in his ears. The train sounded its horn but initially Street did not appear to hear the train as it approached. Street did turn at the last minute but not in enough time to move out of the way and was subsequently struck.
EMS personnel from the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded but Street’s injuries were incompatible with life. The body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy. The railroad tracks were shut down for approximately 90 minutes while sheriff’s deputies and CSX police investigated the scene.

Hello, Darwin? Who walks on any railroad tracks listening to music through ear phones?!
Wait a minute, this wouldn’t have happened if this individual didn’t tresspass on railroad property. We need common sense trespassing laws now, wait, what? LOL

You do realize the tracks cross Joppa Road at the road level. There is an actual Rail crossing there.

We should require that citizens undergo a background check before walking near train tracks.

As tragic as this is…there is NO WAY IN THE WORLD he did not hear or feel that train. This was an unfortunate suicide. I pray for his family in this time of tragedy. I can feel the train in my 2013 chevy with the windows closed and music blaring.
