From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
On Saturday, April 27, 2013 Harford County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 1800 block of Emmorton Road for an Attempted Robbery call at the Sovereign Bank.
Information received from responding Deputies was that at approximately 9:01 A.M., a white male suspect wearing blue jeans, a plaid shirt, dark hat, dusk mask, and sun glasses attempted to rob the Sovereign Bank at 1816 Emmorton Rd, Bel Air, MD 21014. The bank manager at that location reported that as she was attempting to open the bank doors for business, the suspect, who was hiding in the bushes, rushed towards her displaying a black handgun. The bank manager was able to secure the inner door of the bank and the suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction without taking any currency.
No further information is available at this time. The bank manager remained unscathed.

Isn’t that the same bank located just down from where walmart wants to build?
Isn’t this the third robbery this year?
Seems the bank is increasing the crime rate in the area, we should picket them or stop being customers so they move out.
Can walmart really make the Bel Air south area any worse?

Yes, this would be the third robbery this year. I know someone who works there. I don’t think it’s a bad area in general. I’ve never quite understood why it’s so targeted, unless it has something to do with how slow that bank is. Seems there are never any customers in there.

Or maybe every time this place gets robbed, the police are running radar at 924/St. Mary’s and the crooks figure it is a good time to rob the bank. If I were going to rob a bank, I find out where the police are before I did it.

It seems to be the same person, at least according to the description, that has attempted or robbed the bank each time. This is actually my bank branch. I lived in York County, PA. for a few years and started using this bank (originally called York Federal). I just kept my account active when moving back to Maryland. I think they only have one other branch in Harford County, and wouldn’t be surprised if they move out of the area completely.
BelairBob….sarcasm seems to be a lost art. Well done.
