From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
On Saturday, April 27, 2013 at approximately 11:30 AM, Deputies of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Benson branch of the U.S. Post Office located at 108 Connolly Road, Fallston, MD 21047 for an armed robbery call.
Information received from responding Deputies indicated that a white male suspect wearing camouflage pants and shirt, sunglasses and hat entered the post office armed with a handgun. The suspect announced a robbery, jumped the counter and removed an undetermined amount of currency from the facility before fleeing on foot towards the 1800 block of Harford Road. Deputies saturated the area in an attempt to locate the suspect who was unable to be found.
No further information is available at this time. No post office employees were injured during this incident.

I hope and pray my favorite postal worker wasn’t on duty. If so, this will be the second time she’s been robbed at gunpoint at our local post office. Thankfully, based on this article whoever was behind the counter wasn’t physically harmed.

The thugs will continue the armed hold-ups because they know no law abiding citizens will be allowed to carry arms. Thanks, Marty and company.

I bet Marty’s bodyguards have guns…

oh yeah, having a shootout in as small post office would be a wonderful idea…. good thinking Deb

Indeed, a shoot out in a small post office is a horrible idea. Just not quite as horrible as ensuring that good citizens are defenseless.

So the other 40 some states with at least shall issue have problems with its law abiding citizens and wild west style approach to everything?
Ralph says
No, they don’t have shoot outs on a daily basis. Matter of fact, as you probably already know, there is less violent crime in states that have less gun regulation than those states with more rigid regulation.

Here is a thought – stop accepting cash at post office.
Credit/Debit cards only –

That’s part of the problem LL, why should law-abiding citizens adjust our lives for the misfits? I would be willing to bet a mortgage payment that this clown has priors, but our judicial system is just a revolving door.
Don Murray says
Clearly there is a problem. Isn’t this at least the second time this post office has been robbed in just a few short months. I may not be a criminalist but I see there is a problem. How long before someone gets hurt, and no I don’t believe armed citizens are the answer. Are there no cameras to publish a photo of the suspect. Perhaps a better description than your average Walmart customer for starters.
