HARFORD COUNTY, MD (February 22, 2013) – Deputy State Fire Marshals have arrested an Edgewood man in connection with the November 24, 2012 fire that caused an estimated $1,500 damage to a 2006 Hyundai 4-door sedan owned by Leanne McClain.
Joel Michael Fonzi, 18, has been charged with: Arson 2nd Degree, Malicious Burning 1st Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property and Failure to Comply with Peace Order. The defendant was arrested without incident and transported to the Harford County Detention Center where he remains on a $250,000 bond. An arrest warrant has been issued for a second suspect, Brenden Anthony Johnson, 20, for his involvement in the vehicle arson.
Deputy State Fire Marshals were called to the scene of the 12:07 a.m. fire located at 1403 Cranberry Road in Aberdeen, Maryland and quickly determined the burned vehicle was intentionally set on fire. The subsequent investigation revealed the involvement of both suspects in this case.
