From the Maryland State Police, Bel Air Barrack:
(FALLSTON, MD) – On January 30, 2013, at approximately 8:32 p.m. the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack received a call from through the Harford County Emergency Operations Center and provided information that a personal injury accident occurred at the intersection of MD RT 152 and Connolly Road.
Preliminary investigation reveals that a green Chevrolet Pick-up truck operated by Nicholas Joseph Lotz, 22 years of age, was traveling westbound on Connolly Road and failed to stop at a stop sign. The Chevrolet truck collided with an Isuzu sports utility vehicle operated by Joshua Charles Wilson, 19 years of age that was traveling northbound on Route 152 passing Connelly Road. The Isuzu sports utility vehicle was struck on the passenger side and came to final rest on the grass shoulder.
The Fallston Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene to administer medical attention. Maryland State Trooper accident Reconstructionists were called in. MD RT 152 was closed for approximately three hours while the accident was reconstructed. The State Highway Administration assisted with the road closure and temporarily detoured traffic. The investigation is ongoing.

Road closed for three hours for an accident reconstruction? These Troopers need to go back to school if this is what the taxpayers’ money is spent on. One vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way causing the accident. Sounds rather simple to me. Issue the citation and move on.

“Well, he obviously ran the stop sign” is not sufficient testimony to convict a person, juries are so used to CSI/NCIS/Hawaii 5-0/etc that they expect CGI reconstruction of the driver’s entire day, surveillance video from 4 blocks away enhanced to Hollywood clarity and DNA tests for everyone including the workers who made the tires. Reconstruction is needed to ensure enough evidence would be captured from any serious accident which might result in charges against a driver.
