From the office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal:
On January 18 at 3:58 p.m., the Abingdon Fire Department, was alerted for a vehicle fire. The fire involved a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier which was parked at the rear of a commercial property located at 414 Edgewood Road, Edgewood, Harford County. Four firefighters were able to control the fire in ten minutes. The fire caused an estimated $1,500.00 dollars in damage to the vehicle and its contents owned by Richard Lang Jr.
Deputy State Fire Marshals determined that the fire was intentionally set. A joint investigation with the Harford County Sheriff’s Department resulted in two arrests. One 12 year old male has been released into the custody of his parents. A 13 year old male has been detained in the Charles Hickey Youth Facility.
Both juveniles have been charged with 2nd Degree Arson and Malicious Burning 1st Degree. Additional charges have also been filed by the Harford County Sheriff’s Department. No injuries were reported during the incident.
