Harford Writers’ Group Panel Discussion at Abingdon Library; Writing Tips, Tricks, Triumphs

Community members have come together for many shared passions. For the Harford Writers’ Group (HWG), it is the joy of the written word. Do you have a similar passion? Join members of the Harford Writers’ Group as they share their love of writing at the Abingdon Branch of Harford County Public Library on Sunday, November 18 at 2:00 pm. The program will be moderated by Ted M. Zurinsky, the editor of the newly released and published HWG anthology, Voices from the Susquehanna, Volume II: A Collection of New Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry, and Photography. Along with Zurinsky, five HWG members will reveal their best writing tips, tricks and habits; share their triumphs; and discuss how to face that blank page and make it into something amazing!

The Harford Writers’ Group was started in 1999, when Harford Community College students who had just completed a creative writing course decided to meet on a regular basis as they pursued their passions for writing. The meetings have become opportunities to share works in progress, discuss character and plot development, hone editing and revising skills and offer encouragement in preparing pieces for publication. Today the group has more than 30 members.

The HWG meets on the first Tuesday of each month at Tudor Hall (Headquarters for the Center for the Arts in Harford County) in Bel Air from 6:30-8:30 pm. Monthly meetings include occasional speakers to teach techniques and share information. The first anthology from the group, Voices from the Susquehanna: Harford County’s Newest Writers, was released in 2005. Their subsequent book, Voices from the Susquehanna – Volume II, was released in May 2012.
