From the Harford Campaign for Liberty:
Harford Campaign for Liberty
Forest Hill Knights of Columbus
October 23rd, 7pm
Dr. John LaFerla, Democrat, and Mr. Muir Boda, Libertarian, will square off October 23rd at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Forest Hill. The gentlemen seek to unseat Republican congressional incumbent, Dr. Andy Harris of Maryland’s 1st district. Dr. Harris has declined an invitation to this public debate but has also been offered an opportunity to respond in writing on a variety of issues. The format will include several preselected questions on a broad range of topics followed by an opportunity for the audience to address the candidates.
Marta Mossburg, Baltimore Sun columnist and senior fellow with the Maryland Public Policy Institute, will kick off the evening with a discussion on the economic impact of the pending gambling referendum.
Harford Campaign for Liberty invites all concerned citizens to attend this important event. The organization meets at 7 pm the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 23 Newport Drive, Forest Hill. More information can be found at www.harfordliberty.org.

Hmmmm, interesting…..

Yeah, should be great – I am sure the Republicans would love to see a debate hosted by the ACLU as much as I would like to see this debate…

Campaign for Liberty is reaching out to local democrat groups with personal invitations to this event. The same invitation is being extended to conservative groups. Dr, LaFerla has been encouraged to invite as many supporters as he likes. Each candidate was given the opportunity to submit a question that he would like to address. Yes, C4L’s views are known but that does not mean that we cannot be fair even handed and professional. Furthermore, there are areas where libertarian and democrat values collide. The League of Women Voters, declares itself to be nonpartisan, but their liberal leanings are well known. Yet, I did not hear these complaints when they graciously hosted a previous debate. I would like to think that none of us will be smirking and laughing at either of these two accomplished gentleman. Please join us. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

That’s what happens when you nominate and support Wendy and get caught with no viable candidate. LaFerla has the option of declining. No one is requiring him to be there.

Many believe this election to be the most important ever due to the many crises our country is in and continues to face in the future. The importance of this election must, therefore, be magnified all the way down to the local level. I welcome the opporunity to attend this debate especially in light of the fact that I have read in The Ageis that Congressman Harris did not attend the recent forum at Harford Community College. This surprised me because his office is only a couple of miles down the road. I have read Muir Boda’s positions and agree with everyone. So I am thankful he is coming to Harford County.
In addition, Marta Mossburg is not to be missed. I saw her in Baltimore last year, and follow her on WBAL. She is outstanding!
Thanks for coordinating this event. I look forward to attending.

I think this is a good opportunity; I was very disappointed to see that Mr. Harris refuses to have any debates at all. Thank you to Mr. Boda and Mr. LaFerla for taking the time to share their views. And Proud Democrat, I’d think you’d especially want to attend, just to make sure your side is given a fair shake.

while i disagree on just about everything laferla had to say at least he had guts to show up!i guess our fearless leader harris had other things to do!voting for the candidate that is really concerned about the debt and following the constitution and standing up for liberty is never a wasted vote! they might not win this time but a base is being built and it also sends a message to the powers to be.i hope every one would take a serious look at boda for congress and consider this man for congress.hopfully a real debate between harris and boda will take place sometime in the near future but i dont think that will happen. i hope i am wrong.
