A fire discovered just before 8 a.m. Monday by a neighbor in the 800 block of Fishermans Lane caused significant damage to an Edgewood home.
Forty firefighters from Joppa, Abingdon, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Fallston, Bel Air, and Kingsville responded and had the fire under control within 45 minutes.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office estimated the fire caused $160,000 in damage to the split foyer wood framed single family dwelling.
A smoke alarm was not present in the home.
The preliminary cause of the fire was determined to be incendiary in nature, originating in the interior lower level of the home. Anyone with information about this fire is asked to contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal at 410-836-4844.
