I think the word “celebrity” is being overly generous. Maybe “politicians begging for votes and publicity” is more appropriate.
C'mon People says
I believe that “Watcher” hit the nail on the head! 🙂
BBC says
I hope they’ll all be bagging groceries after the next election.

Some of you should what ambassadors you are for the county. You words on most subjects appear to be cynical, spiteful and hateful.

I was there at Shop Right today. Klein’s has a store right in the middle of District 35A and I had no problem being there at the Festival in support of their campaign against hunger. That family does more for Harford County than most people can even imagine. Forty years Ralph Klein came in to Tire Village around Thanksgiving time and my dad happened to mention to him something about a family back on Ellendale Street that was having hard times and within an hour Ralph had about ten sacks of groceries delivered to them. I have never forgotten that.

Kudos to Shoprite Partners in Caring and thumbs down to the politicians. A worthy cause exploited for potential political gain.

Let me finish your sentence for you. “A worthy cause exploited for political gain” at the invitation of Klein’s Shop Rite.
Don’t misunderstand me, the Klein family has done and still does a lot for the surrounding area. This initiative for them helped a worthy cause and increased their revenue. And I salute them for that. The Klein family corporation is a good example for a lot of other companies in the way they support the local community while they run a profitable and otherwise successful company.
Since they make enough money to do all of the good stuff they do why don’t we just raise their taxes so they can do less and let the government do it for them?
flintstone says
There will always be the need for private/public partnerships because one entity can not be all things. The line continually moves back and forth. The business supports the politician and the politician favors the business. Who has the vision to look at the bigger picture and not just the next election? The constant electioneering never stops and the job of running the government becomes the job of running for the next office.
