A vehicle was completely consumed by flames Monday evening behind an industrial park in Perryman. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is also investigating a detonation that occured within a mailbox, also in Perryman.
At 6:30 p.m. on Monday, a passerby in the 1400 block of Perryman Drive in Perryman reported a vehicle engulfed in flames.
Five firefighters from Aberdeen responded to the scene and had the fire under control within 10 minutes.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office estimated the fire caused $13,000 in damage to the Yukon Denali XL. The preliminary cause has been ruled incendiary, originating from the interior of the vehicle.
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the investigation. Anyone with information about this fire is asked to contact the Northeast Regional Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is also investigating an explosion that went off just before 8 p.m. Monday inside a custom-made steel mailbox in the 2100 block of Gulf Drive in Aberdeen.
