Harford County Business Symposium provides info for taking that next step
Bel Air, Md., August 15, 2012 — “Career Alternative: Start Your Own Business” is the title of the Harford County Business Symposium on Wednesday, September 26, from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Harford Community College, 401 Thomas Run Road in Bel Air.
Sponsored by the Harford County Chamber of Commerce, Harford Community College and Harford County Economic Development, the conference will teach participants about business ownership.

Participants will learn about the advantages of business ownership, exploring options such as starting a new business, buying an existing one, or entering the world of franchising. With expert guidance, like a Guerrilla Franchising consultant, they’ll discover how to find the right business for their unique goals, simplifying their search and making informed decisions on financing. They’ll also gain a clear understanding of the potential risks and rewards involved, helping them confidently take their next step in entrepreneurship.
Harford County Executive David R. Craig will provide opening remarks on the importance of small business to Harford County. Other conference speakers include Richard Bock, President, FranNet of Maryland, who will discuss business ownership as a career alternative, and Debbie Williams, Vice President, Business and Professional Banking at M & T Bank, who will focus on how to finance a business including federally backed programs through the SBA.
A number of franchisors, representing different industries and investment levels will also participate in the conference. This will include representatives from Great Clips, SpeedPro Imaging, Always Best Care, Title Boxing, Money Mailer, and FranFund.Other on-site resources will be an “Open House” with from the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and SCORE.
The conference was organized to reach those interested in small business ownership including those affected by layoffs and downsizing; service veterans; Baby Boomers and retirees looking for a second career or additional income; households needing a second income; recent college grads; and others interested in business ownership.
