From the Maryland Liberty PAC:
Patriot,
Last night Cecil County Commissioners Michael Dunn, Diana Broomell, and Jim Mullin sold you out! Last night at the Cecil County Commissioners meeting a vote was taken regarding a Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) ordinance. This ordinance creates a new government program designed to use public tax dollars to buy private property rights all in the name of “smart growth.”
This TDR ordinance is a bad move for Cecil County and a huge step backward in protecting your property rights. County Commissioners Michael Dunn, Diana Broomell, and Jim Mullin need to hear from you about their foolish vote in support of more government bureaucracy and more spending.
What they don’t understand is that the government shouldn’t control your property – – you should! The government should not be purchasing development rights with public money. Dunn, Broomell, and Mullin might try to tell you that this ordinance is somehow a free market solution to managing growth, but it’s not.
This ordinance puts government squarely in the way of rural property owners and their right to develop their land. This ordinance will likely decrease property values for many rural residents in the long run. This ordinance creates a government operated “bank” that purchased development rights will be bought and sold from using your tax dollars. Does that sound free market to you?
Your help is needed urgently in Cecil County. Right now we are working on plans to make sure that voters in Cecil County understand and are aware about this foolish vote and who voted for it, but we need your help. Beating Establishment politicians is not easy and it’s not cheap. Will you commit to donating to Maryland Liberty PAC today?
We need elected officials who honor the Constitution and who take private property rights seriously. It is no coincidence that Karl Marx identified the taking of private property rights as one of the most important planks in his Communist Manifesto. Send these counterfeit conservatives a message right now online by donating today to Maryland
Liberty PAC!

Are you willing to put your precious time, talent, and treasure on the line to safeguard our freedoms from out-of-control government intervention?

Help me out with this. As a conservative I want to understand your posting. I own 50 acres. I plan to keep it forever. I can sell my property to whomever I want to sell it to if someone offers me enough. I don’t want to sell the property but I can sell development rights to Cecil County. That would put money in my pocket on land I want to keep in my family forever. Do you think that is wrong because the purchase price is paid with taxpayer money or is it something else that bothers you?

Wayne, the folks that wrote this just don’t understand the issue, that’s all. You’re on the side of the vast majority of your district on this. Thank you for standing for the free market and property rights and for supporting ag preservation and the rural way of life that we all enjoy.

I’ll tell you what bothers me. It’s the fact that they publish this “rant” without any link or references to ANY supporting documents OR, not even one single factual piece of information to back up the many claims and characterizations contained within, and THEN they have the nerve to ask for donations? Seriously?
Does anyone think for themselves anymore, or just blindly sip the kool aid placed in front of them?
Why don’t you give us information about what a TDR is, how it works, copy of the bill in Cecil as written, and just maybe one link, document, or rational logical argument for or against it?
Instead it is full of hyperbole, emotional language, patriotic misdirection, and a please for money?
This is classic 21st century politics and media at play, where they are only talking to people like themselves who have already made up their mind either with the facts or without them.
Anyone else who wants to get reliable information from unbiased, or at least more than once source, is fending for themselves.
Regardless of whether TDR is right for Cecil or not, your poorly executed request for money reads very much like the mass amounts of mortgage scam junk mail that arrives at our doors every day. And some people in the liberty/tea party movement wonder why they aren’t always taken seriously?
Try again.

Noble,
I swear these guys can’t stop shooting themselves in the foot. Who screens this stuff before it goes out? Anyone? They are sometimes their own worst enemy.

Did Patrick McGrady write or approve this letter? As a Harford County Republican, I would be very much interested to know if the chairman of our county’s GOP is opposed to ag preservation and free-market TDR programs, which are widely supported by Harford voters, and particularly those in the rural north of the county.
