From the Harford County Public Library:
Harford County Public Library employees presented a check to the Humane Society of Harford County on August 14 for $500 from funds raised during a staff bake sale to benefit the organization. Library employees have been holding an annual bake sale for staff for 6 years to benefit various charities including March of Dimes and Animal Rescue, Inc. This was the first year that the bake sale benefitted the Humane Society of Harford County.
Some employees brought in plants to sell along with homemade jams, crafts, baked goods and cakes for a cake raffle. “We have great bakers in the office and what a great way to have fun and help an organization all at the same time!” stated Michele Sobieski, the library employee who coordinated the bake sale.
“The donation from Harford County Public Library is much appreciated,” said Mary Leavens, Executive Director for the Humane Society of Harford County. “The Humane Society of Harford County relies on the support of the community to care for the more than 4,500 animals we take in annually. This donation will help us to provide shelter, medical treatment and nourishment to the animals in our care. Thanks so much to the Harford County Public Library staff for thinking of the homeless animals in Harford County. You are truly making a difference in their lives.”
