First prize for most colorful journalism goes to: “A caller from Schucks Road complained Thursday about a man in a green shirt driving a gold Chevrolet had attempted to pass the caller over a double yellow line.”
There are frequent reports in these blotters that somebody “reported either losing or finding property.” It seems that it should be one or the other; who’s confused, the reporter or the reportee?
Love these columns; a great addition to The Dagger.
Mommie Dearest says
If only it had happened on Red Pump Road!
Brian Goodman says
Neither, Pavel314.
That’s a function of how the initial call is processed, in terms of a response. Remember these are calls for service into dispatch.
I believe they are just logged as a ‘property call,’ to be deemed missing or found once law enforcement shows up and a report is filed.
Nix Applin says
Brian mostly answered this but I thought I could give a little more. When I get the calls for service for a L&F item, if there are no notes that go with the call then it only shows as a call about property lost or found. I want to include those calls so I just say it’s for one or the other.
Brian Goodman says
“A caller from the 1300 block of Acorn Ridge Court reported Thursday a neighbor had chased kids out of a back yard.”
Are they reporting the chasing neighbor or the trespassing kids?
darlene says
They still have pay phones? Havent seen one of thoes in years! And how do you lock people in a car?
Nix Applin says
VERY carefully.
Jack from Bel Air says
Reading this really makes me feel good about being a Harford County resident, I mean they could read shots fired, multiple stabbings, or other crimes of violence to innocent bystanders.
