From the Humane Society of Harford County:
Start your Independence Day off on the right foot by participating in the Harford Hounds 4-Miler on the scenic Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenways Trail. Hosted by the Harford County RASAC Run Club, registration for this run/walk begins at 7:15 am in the Conowingo Dam parking lot, and the run starts at 8:30 am on Wednesday, July 4, 2012.
Pre-registration is not required; however, there is a $4 entry fee for non-RASAC members to support the mission of this local running club; RASAC members are free. The run/walk is 2 miles out and 2 miles back to the start, for a total of 4 miles. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and top female runner and other random prizes will be awarded. The Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) will award one lucky runner a voucher to adopt a pet of their choice with all adoption fees waived (includes vaccinations, microchip, and more).
Besides burning calories and savoring the breathtaking scenery and sweet mountain air, participants in the Harford Hounds 4-Miler can make a difference in the lives of Harford County’s homeless and neglected animals. Bring a monetary donation or an item from the Humane Society of Harford County’s (HSHC) wish list to support homeless animals at the shelter. Donations are tax-deductible, and HSHC’s wish list can be found at www.harfordshelter.org.
To reach the Conowingo Dam parking lot, follow US Route 1 North, turn right on Shuresville Road and then left on Shures Landing Road and follow signs to the trailhead.
