The following message to union members was posted on Facebook by Randy Cerveny, president of the Harford County Education Association (HCEA), which is the union representing teachers in Harford County Public Schools:
You have ratified the 2012/13 contract by an overwhelming majority of 93%.
The step and a 1% COLA (effective during the next school year) offered by Harford County Public Schools is the direct result of your collective actions.
Our job is not finished. In order to ensure public education is a priority in Harford County, we must guarantee that it is funded as a priority. We must educate the public on the necessity of a quality public school system. This is a large undertaking, but it can and must be done. Your help is needed during the coming school year in this task. The students and Harford County depend on our success.

No, Randy, my children do NOT depend on HCEA and its bully tactics.
Tell your members that they wanted to be teachers, not just cogs in a union collective. They want to teach, let them teach.
Yes You Do says
your 6 kids in public school depend on the teachers
ALEX R says
If Jeff in fact has 6 cildren in the public school system, or how many ever children he has, they should depend primarily on their parents not on teachers.

Mmm… substituting “teachers” for “HCEA”. A subtle yet critical distinction…
