From Harford County Municipal Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #128:
The Harford County Municipal Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #128 would like to thank our members, their friends, local business owners, and the citizens for their contribution to two recent fund-raising efforts.
In March and April our lodge sponsored two fund-raisers for Detective Mark Franklin who earlier in 2012 was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The first fund-raiser was the Laugh Live Comedy Show and the second was a Bull & Shrimp Roast. Both events were overwhelmingly successful.
On May 16th, 2012 our lodge presented Detective Franklin with a check from the proceeds of both events, and donations from citizens totaling over $16,000. In addition the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corp.’s “Lets Help Out Others” foundation was gracious enough to present a donation of $1,000.00.
“The money raised will off-set the rising cost of out-of-pocket medical bills not covered by Detective Franklin’s insurance. This includes the many co-pays for doctor visits, prescriptions, travel to and from the many treatments, etc. Mark would give you the shirt off his back; no actually he would give you his last cent. That is the kind of person Mark is. These fund-raisers were the right thing to do for a Brother in distress”, said Jason Neidig, lodge President. “Our members from the Aberdeen Police Department where Mark is employed hope to have him back in the office doing what he does best, Crime Scene Investigations.”
INDEPENTDENT says
Its nice to see an organization taking care of their own. Way to go. Wishing Det. Franklin a full and speedy recovery.
