News from the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company
BBQ grill safety
Warmer weather, outdoor fun! This includes backyard cookouts. Take time to check your grill before you use it for the first time of the season. Check all connections. You can use dishwashing liquid soap. With the gas turned on, if you pour a little bit of soap on the connection, and you see bubbles, you need to tighten the connection or replace the rubber “O” ring.
Also, be sure the fire area is clean. If the gas jet openings or orifices are clogged, you will have problems. Be sure you tank has fuel in it, and is in good condition. Lastly, don’t use the grill indoors, or in an enclosed area. Carbon Monoxide can hurt you. Also, the heat of the grill can build up, and may cause a fire. Be safe, have a fire extinguisher nearby.
Have a fun, safe grilling season. Call us at 410-638-3760 for more information and safety tips. We are YOUR Darlington Volunteer Fire Company
