From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
The following statement was presented by Harford County Sheriff Jesse Bane during a press conference Thursday regarding the dismemberment murder of Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie and subsequent arrest of his roommate in Joppatowne, Alexander Kinyua, who was charged with murder and assault this week:
On Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 12:23am deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office took a missing person report at the residence of 535 Terrapin Terrace in Joppa, MD 21085.
Mr. Anthony Muriithi Kinyua reported Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, a 37 year old black male from Ghana, Africa. He was reported by Mr. Kinyua to be last seen on Friday, May 25, at 5:30am when he went to go jogging.
Follow-up investigation by deputies and detectives indicated the possible commission of crime.
On Tuesday, May 29th at 10:30pm, deputies returned to the residence at the request of Mr. Kinyua. One of his sons, Jarrod, reported seeing human remains in the basement laundry room – specifically a human head and two human hands in two tins. Jarrod confronted his brother, Alexander Kinyua, 21 years of age, who denied the remains were human stating they were animal remains.
Jarrod approached his father Anthony, on the main floor of the home and reported his observations. Upon returning to the basement, Jarrod observed the remains were missing. A search and seizure warrant was then obtained and human remains – head and hands – were recovered on the main floor of the residence.
The subject, Alexander Kinyua was then interviewed by detectives at the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Southern Precinct. He admitted to killing our missing person, Mr. Agyei-Kodie, and then cutting him up with a knife. He further stated that he consumed Mr. Agyei-Kodie’s internal organs – specifically his heart and portions of his brain.
The suspect then led detectives to a dumpster at 536 Trimble Road, in Joppa, MD where they recovered what remained of Mr. Agyei-Kodie’s body.
Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies charged Alexander Kinyua of 535 terrain terrace in Joppa, MD.Has been charged with first degree murder, first and second degree assault and is presently incarcerated with the Harford County Detention Center. He is being held without bail.
I would like to thank our deputies for their hard work on this difficult investigation. I would also like to thank the Baltimore field office of the FBI and agents from the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit in Quantico, VA for their assistance with the investigation of this crime.
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office also released a list of new details and information in the case, as of 8:30pm on June 1:
– This continues to be an active ongoing investigation at this time.
– No charges have been filed at this time on anyone other than Alexander Kinyua in connection with this crime.
– Positive ID has been confirmed. The human remains were those of Kujoe Agyei-Kodie.
– Next of kin has been located and notified. We were able to locate a relative in the US who lived just outside of Maryland.
– Alex Kinyua, the accused, is a US Citizen and has been in the country since he was a small child.
– Six people reside(d) at the residence located at 535 Terrapin Terrace: Mom, Dad, three children (1 of the 3 is the accused) and the deceased, Mr Agyei-Kodie who was living in the home with the family in a boarder/tenant/renter capacity.
– The portion of the body that was dumped in a dumpster near the church had no relevance to the investigation other than it’s proximity to the Kinyua home.
Statement from Sheriff Jesse Bane on how the community is reacting to the incident:
“My assessment of the community reaction to this crime is that our residents are in a state of disbelief. Harford County is a quiet county with a very low crime rate. We have the fifth lowest crime rate in the State and we would never believe that anything like this could happen in our community. We are concerned for the residents in the Joppa community and have taken steps to assure them that they are not at risk. Our detectives and deputies worked tirelessly to bring this case to a successful conclusion and remove the suspect from the community as quickly as possible. We are hoping things will return to normal sooner rather than later and that we can put this horrible and tragic incident behind us.”

Anybody still as shocked as i am, the last case I’ve seen get this gruesome was Jeffrey Dalmer. CNN and Fox had it running today, then again it was a slow news day. But this is still sick any way you slice it…from electrical engineer to straight murdering cannibal.
His social media behavior and persona paint a picture of someone who could not separate sick fantasy from reality. I hope he doesn’t get to plead insanity, because this was premeditated.
yuck says
One gruesome detail from the cover story given to the brother who found the body parts is that the Kenyan Cannibal thought it would be OK if the remains were from an animal. Has this family been dismembering pets and wild animals and putting their body parts in “tins” on a routine basis?
“Oh Kinyua, you’re right; it IS just another groundhog head lying around in the basement. Whatever. Hey, what’s mom cooking for lunch?”

Anybody buying Banes statement that Harford County has a “very low crime rate.” How many shootings this year? Your right Jesse, the men and women do a great job is spite of your poor leadership.

If you listened to Bane on Dagger Radio on Friday, it was clear that he had no idea how the investigation was being conducted. He gave out misinformation as to how missing persons are tracked and several other fallacies. I have to admit that he was quite good at reading the press release that he didn’t write almost verbatim. Thanks to the deputies who do their job in spite of him. Hurry up 2014.

Jesse would need help to investigate the running of a red light. He lost one of the best Crime Scene Technicians because of his lack of knowledge on how to secure a crime scene. Remember though, crime is down in Harford County, just ask Jesse or one of his faithful followers. I did see the PIO speaking on the shooting of the young child. That was a treat. The best PIO ever was Lt Eddie Hopkins.

This is horrible. Am I supposed to just go about my business as if nothing has happened, as if this is the new normal in Joppa? Where is the crisis intervention team? How do we get the rest of this psychotic, cannibal-producing family to leave our community? Do I need to copy cat this shit to show how upset I am, because I am very upset!

Wouldn’t the body in the church dumpster be relevant in that it should only be missing the head and hands? Hope the medical examiner counted everything.
I watched two men poking around in weeds along the road when it was still just a “missing person case.” Despite the crime scene tape in front of my face, I dismissed the brief thought that they appeared to be searching for body parts or a dead animal.
Unfortuately, this image keeps coming more into focus and is becoming more intrusive rather than fading away. Guilt? Fear? Shame? WTF is this? Definitely nauseating.

Psychotics and perverts have been around forever. Only difference now is most of them are seeking to have thier “basic human rights” upheld in order to have thier behavior sanctioned by the rest of society. The apathy towards these freaks is sickening thanks to political correctness. Most people now “tolerate” the intolerable for fear of being tagged as a neanderthal.
For many of the others, that’s what you get when you try to replace a nuclear family with an endless line of bureaucrats, a school system that lives in fear of being sued, and a multi-trillion dollar “war on poverty” that has caused more problems than it solved. The Central Gov’t has usurped the power of the States with buyoffs that have now addicted local authorities to Federal bucks. The power that was once in the hands of the populace has moved from them to the State then on to the Feds. Individual responsibility, which is best taught by a mother and father, holds no place for far too many people. It doesn’t help, either, when our leaders campaign on the idea that it’s us against them. It’s easy to fit into the ‘us’ category when you don’t have a chance in hell of being one of ‘them’. It ain’t hard to figure out who’s at fault for that mindset.

Excellent commentary. You ought to also copy and paste it to the library discussion of the “shade of grey” book.

Well said. It is what it is…political correctness be dammed.
RETIREDAWHILE says
Ol Uncle Jesse famous now, being on national news and everything. His moment to shine was more for publicity and election, wheres he at making any other press releases.
Marc Eaton says
Retiredawhile, with his dwindling support from both Unions I think Jesse is up for anything. Maybe he should revisit how under the Meadows administration gangs were discouraged from setting up shop in the County. I think if he would have spent time actually doing police work rather then riding a desk he may know how to deal with things. Maybe if the men and women working the street could do their jobs without fear of running into a person carrying a FOJ card things would be different. When your leader has you stop investigations, returns items taken from a search warrant it kinda doesn’t give you much incentive to go out and do your job now does it. Tell me Im wrong Jesse.
