From Harford County Public Schools:
The Harford County Reading Council’s 31st Annual Young Authors Writing Contest Awards Ceremony was held on Thursday, March 15, 2012, for students, parents, teachers and administrators from all over Harford County to listen to the work of students in grades K-12. Students were recognized as creative authors and poets and had the opportunity to share their thoughts among the group, which gathered in the Board Room at the A.A. Roberty Building. Hundreds of pieces were submitted for the contest, but only three from each category received awards. The winning entries were then submitted to the state level competition and a total of three students were selected as state winners. Bel Air High senior Kiley Baker and North Harford Elementary fifth grader Brooke Ciampaglio both came in second place in their grade levels at the state competition and C. Milton Wright High junior Mikayla Mislak placed first for her short story.
