In the early hours of Tuesday morning, firefighters extinguished flames inside four Dumpsters, intentionally ignited and burning in two separate locations in Edgewood.
At about 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, a passerby discovered two commercial Dumpsters on fire at Admiral Pools, LLC in the 1000 block of Edgewood Road in Edgewood.
Six firefighters from the Abingdon Fire Company were able to extingish the fire in about 10 minutes. State Fire Marshal’s Office estimated the fire caused $1,000 in damage to the containers, which are owned by IESI Waste Management.
Less than two hours later, at about 5 a.m., firefighters were called to the Edgewood Plaza Shopping Center in the 2200 block of Hanson Road to a nearly identical situation. Two Dumpsters, owned by Waste Managment, were burning and had suffered an estimated $1,000 in damage.
In both incidents, the preliminary cause of the fire was declared incendiary and intentionally set, originating from the interior of the Dumpsters.
