An early morning mulch fire caused an estimated $15,000 in damage to a Fallston home and its contents on Monday.
Just before 5 a.m. Monday, the occupant of a one story rancher-style house in the 2500 block of Hess Road in Fallston reported a fire in an exterior front mulch area of the home.
Twenty firefighters from Fallston, Jarrettsville, and Bel Air responded to the single-alarm call and took about 10 minutes to get the fire under control. The State Fire Marshal’s Office estimated the fire caused $10,000 in damage to the house and another $5,000 in damage to its contents.
A smoke alarm was present in the home, but did not activate. The preliminary cause of the fire is undetermined.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal is asking anyone with information about this fire to call (410) 836-4844.
