From Roy Whiteley, Founder, Marylanders For Fair Property Taxation:
April 5, 2012
Chairman Hixson and Members of the Ways and Means Committee
We have heard through the grapevine that HB 789 Internet Access to Property Assessment Worksheets and HB 881 Task Force to Review Property Assessment and Appeals Procedures may not see the light of day from your Committee.
To deny the 2 million property taxpayers of this State the opportunity to study the failed, flawed assessment and appeals system is unconscionable; especially in light of the exposure of the fallacies of the system documented by the Sunpapers which fully supports the position we have offered in testimony before you over the past eight years. If only one item with the Sun’s reports is true it is enough for you to stop playing God, judge and jury and pass these legislative measures on the floor of the House for action by ALL OF THOSE WE ELECT TO REPRESENT US.
WE URGE YOU TO TAKE A LOOK AT A REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLING OF THE ARTICLES IN THE SUN BY ACCESSING THE FOLLOWING LINK — http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/bal-sun-investigation-taxing-baltimore-20111220,0,2367432.special.
IF IN GOOD CONSCIOUS YOU CAN SAY THIS IS NOT AN AGENCY WITH PROBLEMS THAT NEEDS TO BE STUDIED WITH A GOAL OF IMPROVING ITS OPERATIONS THEN DENY MARYLAND’S 2 MILLION PROPERTY TAXPAYERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY AND INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER.
OTHERWISE, WE URGE YOUR FAVORABLE PASSAGE OF HB 789 AND 881 NOW!!!!!
Thank you. Roy Whiteley, Founder
