Fire caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to a Joppa barn and its contents on Wednesday evening.
At about about 8:11 p.m. Wednesday, a fire was reported in a one-story, wood framed barn in the 1600 block of Philadelphia Road in Joppa. The fire had been discovered by property owner Sandra K. Lucich in the interior of the 12- by 50-foot barn near the electrical service panel.
Forty firefighters from Joppa-Magnolia, Abingdon, Edgewood area of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Kingsville responded to the one-alarm call and had the fire under control within 45 minutes. The State Fire Marshal’s Office estimated the fire caused $20,000 in damage to the barn and another $10,000 to its contents.
The preliminary cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Office of the State Fire Marshal is interested in hearing from anyone who might have information about this fire. Please call (410) 836-4844.
