From Harford County Public Schools:
At Patterson Mill High, the National Honor Society recently kicked off Harvest for the Hungry with a supermarket sweep.
Five seniors, along with National Honor Society advisor Kelly Machala, joined 6 other teams on the morning of March 6th to attempt to fill a grocery cart with a variety of healthy foods worth upwards of $750.00 in three minutes or less! Thanks to a generous parent donation, the team contributed the $750.00 needed to enter the competition.
In addition to funding and shopping for the groceries, the team was asked by United Way, Safeway, and WBAL to stay after and shop with whatever amount was left over for non-perishable foods to be donated.
Maryland’s 26th annual Harvest for the Hungry food drive took place March 3-10. Their goal was to collect enough food to supply the needy of Maryland with food throughout the year.
