From Maryland State Police:
The Maryland State Police, Bel Air Barrack will be implementing operation “Don’t Press Your Luck” throughout the Saint Patrick’s Day weekend. This initiative will focus on speeding, reckless driving, following too closely, failure to wear seatbelts, and most importantly, operating under the influence of alcohol and/ or drugs.
We want to remind everyone that troopers will be out in force, searching for those who commit traffic infractions during and after Saint Patrick’s Day festivities. Too many lives are lost because people ‘press their luck’ and act irresponsibly while they drive. Troopers will be concentrating enforcement within designated “high crash” areas, such as: Route 1 (Belair Road); Route 24/Route 924 (Veteran’s Memorial Highway/Emmorton Road); Route 22/Route 543 (Fountain Green); and Route 40 (Pulaski Highway).
As a reminder of our commitment to improving driving behaviors in Harford County, and due to the recent tragic crashes along Route 543 (Creswell Road), between Route 22 (Churchville Road) and I-95, Harford County troopers and members of the Harford County Traffic Task Force recently targeted Route 543 for enforcement activities. Law Enforcement personnel issued 80 citations, 142 warnings, made 2 CDS arrests and 1 DUI arrests throughout the week of Saturday, March 3 through Sunday, March 11.
