From the Humane Society of Harford County:
Top o’ the mornin’ to ya! Lots of leapin’ labrachauns and purrin’ paddy cats are waiting to meet and greet the public on Saturday, March 17th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. when the adoption fee of all the shelter animals over 1 year of age will be reduced to just $17 – and that’s no blarney! Some of the animals are as small as leprechauns, some dream of fields of green, but all have hearts of gold.
The animals’ Irish eyes will be smilin’ when the celebration begins with cookies and beverages, chocolate gold coins, lollipops, green bead necklaces, and more. It’ll be a lucky day, but we remind all the Irish lads and lassies out there to deposit their extra gold coins to fill our pot o’ gold so we can continue to provide all the animals with the best care possible.
The $17 adoption fee for adult cats and dogs over 1 year of age includes a rabies vaccination, the first set of distemper shots, de-wormer, flea & tick preventative, a microchip for identification purposes, a general health exam, and a bag of Hill’s Science Diet starter food. There is an additional $50 deposit for a HASP (Harford Animal Sterilization Program) certificate so the animal can be spayed or neutered. That fee is refunded upon completion of the procedure within 60 days.
As part of the adoption process, families should be prepared with a copy of their lease or rental agreement, showing they are allowed to own a pet. All family members (dogs too if considering adopting another dog) should come along to meet the potential new addition. The animals’ photos can be viewed and the adoption application process can be started ahead of time by visiting http://www.harfordshelter.org.
