A Bel Air man has been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries last month in the Fallston and Bel Air areas, police said, and a warrant has been issued for a second suspect who remains at large.
Cory Richard Strevig, 26, of Bel Air was arrested Wednesday on charges stemming from two burglaries on Copperwood Way in Fallston Feb. 1, one burglary on Moores Road in Baldwin Feb. 10, and a burglary on Roman Ridge Road in Bel Air Feb. 16.
An arrest warrant for the second suspect, Daniel James Sheets, also of Bel Air, was issued on charges in connection with the Copperwood Way and Moores Road burglaries, as well as two Feb. 7 burglaries on Brandon Hunt Lane in Baldwin. The warrant had not been served as of Thursday afternoon, but Sheets’ whereabouts were known to police, Harford County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Monica Worrell said.
According to police reports, on Feb. 1 a man said someone had broken into his home on the 2000 block of Copperwood Way in Fallston by smashing a basement window sometime between 8:40 and 10:10 a.m., and stolen cash and jewelry. While canvassing the neighborhood, Harford County Sheriff’s deputies found the home next door had also been burglarized.
Then, on Feb. 7, two homes on the 3100 block of Brandon Hunt Lane in Baldwin were burglarized over a period of approximately two hours. According to police reports, a woman told police she left her home to run errands between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. When she returned, she noticed a small white vehicle parked in front of a nearby home, facing the wrong way.
Upon entering her home, she found someone had broken into her home through an unlocked basement door on the outside of the home, and by kicking open a basement door leading into the home. As she called 911 and left the home, the woman said the vehicle had departed. Deputies located a TV from the home’s den in the bushes next to the garage, and the woman told police that two jewelry boxes were missing.
Deputies investigating the neighboring home found it had been broken into in the same way sometime between 1 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. Among the items taken from the home were two credit cards, various jewelry, a flatscreen television, and a laptop computer, police said. Investigators at the time noted the similarities to the Copperwood Way break-ins.
On Feb. 10 a woman told police she found the basement door to her boyfriend’s home on the 2900 block of Moores Road in Baldwin open. Among the items taken from the home were a revolver, electronic equipment including a television, and jewelry.
Sounds a lot like the Kingsville burglaries of late too.
