A Kingsville man has been arrested in connection with an Edgewood breaking and entering incident in which a Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputy sustained a serious injury.
William Joseph Flemming, 24, of Kingsville was arrested and is being held on $50,000 bond at the Harford County Detention Center.
Police said a caller reported a breaking and entering occuring at approximately 10:20 p.m. Wednesday night at a residence on the 1800 block of John Drive in Edgewood. Deputies arriving at the scene established a perimeter, but upon hearing a scream from inside the residence, forced entry into the home.
Inside, police said the officers fround three suspects, who attempted to flee. Two were apprehended, while a third jumped through a plate glass window to escape.
While attempting to apprehend the third suspect, Deputy First Class Tyler Vass, a two-year veteran of the department, sustained a severe laceration to his arm. He was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment, and was released shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday.
Police said an investigation into the incident is continuing.

At approximately 10:20pm on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 – Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call for service in the 1800 block of John Drive in Edgewood, MD for a report of breaking and entering. When deputies arrived at the scene, they established a perimeter and after hearing a scream from inside, forced entry into the residence. Inside they located three suspects. Two suspects were apprehended by the deputies and a third one fled. Charges are pending against the individuals in connection with the incident that occurred that evening. The investigation is ongoing.
William Joseph Fleming, age 24, of Kingsville, MD, one of the suspects apprehended was taken into custody on a circuit court arrest warrant. He is currently being held at HarfordCounty Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
The third suspect, who dove through a plate glass window to elude capture, is described as a black male and may be injured as a result of his actions. Anyone with information on the third suspect is encouraged to contact Harford County Sheriff’s Detective Tom Walsh at 410-836-5408.
A Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputy, DFC Tyler Vass, a two-year veteran, suffered a severe laceration to his arm, from the shards of glass, while trying to apprehend the third suspect. He was transported to John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center by Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company. He was released shortly before 5am on March 1st and is considered to be in good condition.

Interesting. I have been posting on the Dagger since it started, using the screen name Retiredawhile, but the post above is not from me. Apparently there is more than one person using the name Retiredawhile, as I have read several posts from yesterday that were not made by me.
I would also add my wishes for a complete recovery to Deputy Vass, along with my thanks to all Deputies who are on the job each and every day.
Hopefully the additional people using the screen name Retiredawhile will find another name.
This has happened to me before and I complained to the dagger abaout it. Presumably they can identify the IP address of the individual and block them from future postings
