From the office of state Del. Glen Glass:
Hello,
There have been and continue to be situations that are happening every day in our airports that Maryland citizens need to be made aware of. Individuals are being singled out and bodily searched by TSA employees in addition to the scanning. Theses searches go well beyond what the law allows, are unconstitutional and are growing worse.
Listed below are several bills I have put in to help address these serious issues.
HB 1106–Public Safety–Inappropriate Search of a Minor by Public Servant
–Penalties
HB 1111–Public Safety-Restrictions on Searches for Security Purposes
–Penalties
HB 1244–Maryland Aviation Administration–Airport Security and Passenger
Screening-Private Contractor
HB 1245–Maryland Aviation Administration–Airport Security-Training-Luggage Search
These bills will help to stop the inappropriate searches currently taking place. Below are just a few of the searches which have taken place. To view place your cursor on the Hyperlink, right click and select ‘Open Hyperlink’.

PRESS CONFERENCE
Thursday, March 1st at Noon (directly after Session)
Eastern Shore Delegation Room #431
Thank you,
Delegate Glen Glass
OMG says
Why do we have a state delegate trying to pass laws on a federal agency? I thought the TSA was controlled by the US Government. Let someone travel abroad and see how they deal with passengers. We are too concerned with civil liberties. I have traveled around the world and have been picked out of line to get searched. IF YOU DON’T HAVE ANYTHING TO HIDE……
Bill Fisher says
Too concerned with our liberties?! What planet are you from?
People have died to protect these and cowards who want to give them away are a disgrace.
Military says
I have fought to protect the free rights of citizens. BUT there are some rules that people need to follow. I would rather be on a plane that has been inspected instead of thinking that a bomb has gotten on without being searched. YES, Americans have died to protect the rights of our Great Country. BUT it goes too far with state delegates want to curb searches for a plane. IF YA DON’T WANT TO BE SEARCHED…..DON’T TAKE THE PLANE. Then if you want to clean up the abuses do it on a case by case……don’t think that by limiting the searches you are going to make the plane safer…..
Arturro Nasney says
Benjamin Franklin said: “Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” Are we really any safer with the TSA?
Beemerman says
WHAT PLANET DO YOU LIVE ON???
Yes, you are safer with TSA. Do you really think airport security has no deterrent effect? Do you really think that if there were no airport security screening, there would be no security threats?
We live in a dangerous world, one that is full of people who want to harm our country. The folks who pulled off the 9/11 attacks are smart, well-financed, devious, ingenious, highly motivated, utterly ruthless, and still committed to their cause. To attack the agency responsible for keeping them at bay is illogical at best, and delusional at worst.
B says
Do they actually make us safer, or do they just make you feel safer. Billions spent for whom have they caught again?
ACLU says
So let me get this straight? You want the government to search everyone without regard to personal rights? This country was founded on personal rights and each individual has the right to say NO. Del Glass is standing up for the rights of each American. We live in America and don’t live in some third world country. Just ask Ron Paul….he has the right message about pulling our troops out of the world. Please……don’t dare say, IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO HIDE. I think Del Glass and President Obama have the right message.
Bill Fisher says
Since Congress has failed to act responsibly and restrict actions by TSA screeners it is essential that legislators take action at the local level to provide some level of protection to passengers.
There have been numerous incidents of TSA conducting strip searches, groping passengers’ privates and even reaching inside of their underwear. This is unacceptable.
This agency is just a jobs program for the chronically unemployed posing as airline security. After sixty billion dollars they can’t cite one success, fail 70% of security tests and let 60% of the freight in the cargo-hold go unchecked.
Add to that the 62 TSA screeners arrested in 2011 for serious crime, including rape and murder and five in 2012. Last year eleven TSA workers were charged with sex crimes involving children. They can’t prevent crime within their ranks, yet we’re supposed to trust this agency with airport security.
TSA is indifferent to our feelings and considers repeated harassment of innocent citizens a measure of success. They rely on the excuse of using unpredictable procedures and sensitive security information to conceal rampant misconduct and mismanagement within the agency.
The agency’s lack of responsible management is why so many crimes, abuses and failures occur. Pistole and the senior staff of TSA have failed miserably in operating this agency and should be replaced.

tsa OMG says
TSA is a federal agency and cannot be mandated by state law.
Arturro Nasney says
TSA OMG; where did you get that notion? I ran to my copy of the Constitution and could not find that anywhere. What I did find was the exact opposite.
Beemerman says
Okay, Mr. Constitutional Scholar, please cite just where in the Constitution you found this. I won’t hold my breath.
Arturro Nasney says
How about the tenth amendment?
TSA says
@Arturro Nasney. I am sure your version needs to be updated. The rights of the federal government are higher then the states. The TSA is a federal agency and cannot be regulated by state law. Gotta love these people who make comments and quote wrong amendments. The state cannot pass laws that conflict with Federal Law. That would be like Harford County passing laws that apply to APG. Ain’t gonna happen. Del Glass needs to get back to work and represent the people of his district in a constructive manner.
Beemerman says
Thanks for regurgitating the propaganda of terrorists and libertarian nutballs. While Satan and Osama bin Laden are having dinner together tonight, they will be discussing how you’ve helped their cause.
Beemerman says
This bill is just a grandstanding waste of time by a politician seeking to improve his street cred with the right wing. Glass has a better chance of walking on the Moon than he does of getting this bill passed.
md says
All the people who are commenting about the scanners keeping us safe is ridiculous and something that is said because you are too afraid to face reality. The reality is you have been lied to in order to feel less safe. Fear controls populations and all of you who feel we need protection from everything are under control. Your mind has been brainwashed wit propaganda and need to snap out of it
LMB says
I understand Glen put these bills in after the aluminium foil around his head kept setting of the metal detectors.
