Fire officials are continuing to investigate an early Saturday morning fire which caused $70,000 in damages to an Edgewood home.
The fire was discovered in the living room of a two-story home on the 200 block of Leburnum Road in Edgewood at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday, according to the state fire marshal’s office. The owner of the home and a seven-year-old child escaped without injury, and 25 firefighters from the Abingdon, Joppa, and Aberdeen Proving Ground fire companies brought the blaze under control in approximately 15 minutes.
Damage to the home is estimated at $60,000, and damages to its contents are estimated at $10,000, the state fire marshal’s office said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The home’s occupants are being assisted by family friends.
