A Friday morning fire caused an estimated $170,000 in damage to a Bel Air home and its contents.
Just after 7 a.m. Friday, a fire was reported in the 100 block of S. Lynbrook Road in Bel Air. The fire had been discovered by homeowners Ron and Maria Tew in an upstairs bedroom of their two-story split level house.
Twenty firefighters from Abingdon and Bel Air responded to the one-alarm fire and had it under control within 10 minutes. The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage to the house and another $20,000 to its contents
A smoke alarm was present and working in the home, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined and anyone with information about the blaze is asked to contact the Bel Air Office of the State Fire Marshal at (410) 836-4844.
