From Harford County Public Schools:
On December 15, 2011, a group of fourth and fifth grade students in Dr. Guilbault’s class at Roye-Williams Elementary School learned about biomechanics and human connectomes from Dr. Reuben Kraft, mechanical engineer and researcher at APG’s U.S. Army Research Lab. Dr. Kraft was recently awarded the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers presented by President Barack Obama. Dr. Kraft talked with the students about his work in neuroscience and engineering as well as the importance of motivation as one of the keys to success. Dr. Kraft’s visit has inspired Dr. Guilbault’s students to create their own inventions to solve real-world problems as they apply the engineering design process.
