A blaze caused serious damage to an Aberdeen home on Thanksgiving night, according to fire officials.
A neighbor discovered the fire at approximately 9:53 p.m. in bedroom of a one-story modular home on East Aztec Street in Aberdeen, the state fire marshal’s office said. A total of 20 firefighters from the Aberdeen, Aberdeen Proving Ground, and Havre de Grace fire companies brought the blaze under control in about 15 minutes. Aberdeen police also responded to the scene.
The fire caused an estimated $10,000 in damages to the home’s contents and $10,000 in damage to the home itself, according to the state fire marshal’s office. A smoke alarm was present but was not working at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire was determined to be incendiary in nature, with two separate points of origin found. Anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to contact the state fire marshal’s office in Bel Air at 410-836-4844.
