From Harford County Public Schools:
Of the 48,000 students who applied for this year’s award, C. Milton Wright high school senior and field hocky player Danielle King was honored with a surprise announcement on November 15, 2011, at her school that she was chosen as one of twelve national finalists for the 2011 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award, which honors exceptional students who bring excellence in academics, athletics and community service. Danielle was joined by school administration, her coaches and her family, as well as representatives from Wendy’s and ESPN, as the announcement was made in front of her field hockey team members.
The twelve national finalists will travel to New York City where two national winners—one male, one female—will be chosen and each will receive a crystal Wendy’s High School Heisman trophy; $10,000 donation to their respective high schools; and recognition during the collegiate Heisman ceremony in New York City on Friday, December 9, 2011.

“Danielle King will be honored with a surprise announcement at her high school”
Hopefully she doesn’t read The Dagger.

We had to post the preview release until we could update with the final, past-tense version you see now, but the whole thing was embargoed until they surprised her. Nothing spoiled, at least by us.

Being facetious, I figured you had it under control.
