From Harford County Public Schools:
The Northeastern Maryland Technology Council (NMTC) will host the next Science Café on October 11, 2011, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Harford Day School. “Contagion: Fear and Fact” will be a discussion about the nation’s response to the global flu pandemic in 2009-10, led by Dr. Peter Emanuel, who was assistant director for chemical and biological countermeasures at the White House at the time of the flu pandemic. He is currently director for biosciences at Edgewood Chemical and Biological Sciences. Dr. Emanuel will share perspectives on how science, budgets and the international community shaped the United States’ response to the flu epidemic. Science Cafés are a fun and free way for everyone, scientists or not, to learn about a specific science and technology topic that affects our everyday lives from a local expert.
