The Abingdon couple who hit a $109 million Powerball jackpot earlier this month have chosen to keep their identities a secret, Maryland Lottery officials said Tuesday.
The winning ticket was sold at Wine World in Abingdon, and represented the largest payout for the game in Maryland since the state first offered it in January 2010.
“Unfortunately, it looks like they are not going to reveal their identities,” lottery spokeswoman Carole Everett told The Dagger.
According to the lottery, the couple had the only winning ticket for the Sept. 7 drawing. Initially valued at as much as $107 million, the total was increased to $108.8 million several days after the drawing.
