From Harford County Government:
The Harford County Department of Public Works in partnership with Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the University of Maryland – Master Gardener’s and the Harford County Library will be holding a Rain Garden Workshop at Abingdon Library, Saturday, September 25 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Registration is required. The focus of the workshop will be how homeowners can create a rain garden in their own backyard. Topics include native plants, wildlife habitat, and “bayscaping” and how each benefits our local streams. There will also be a tour of the rain garden constructed at the library this past fall.
Also featured in the workshop will be a status report on the Wheel Creek Restoration project which includes water quality monitoring, stream restoration, and upgrades to existing stormwater management facilities. Elsie says
After all the rain we’ve had, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for homeowners who had flooding issues to take a look at what can be done to alleviate some of the storm water problems that impacted their properties. The Rain Garden that was constructed at the Abingdon Library last year really worked! Held up well and really allowed a lot of water to flow carefully to the right location. Good job!
