A Darlington home was severely damaged by a blaze which broke out in the early morning hours Wednesday, and remains under investigation by local fire officials.
A passerby reported the fire just after 1 a.m. at a two-story home on the 3100 block of Old Scarboro Road in Darlington, according to the state fire marshal’s office. A total of 50 firefighters from the Darlington, Norrisville, Whiteford, and York County, Pa. fire departments brought the blaze under control in about 45 minutes.
Damage to the home was estimated at $250,000, and damages to its contents were estimated at $75,000. A smoke alarm was present and working at the time of the fire.
Both the area of the home in which the fire began, and the preliminary cause of the fire, remain under investigation. Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact the Northeast Regional Office of the state fire marshal’s office at 410-836-4844.
