From Harford Family House:
Local movie actor, John Schaech, adds his celebrity to the Harford Mutual Home Runs for the Homeless event supporting Harford Family House to raise awareness regarding the problem of homelessness in Harford County.
John filmed his latest movie, 5 Days of Way in Georgia (formerly a part of the USSR but now its own Country) and became aware of the homelessness and refugee camps that were an unfortunate by-product of “The War”. Realizing that this problem exists in his Country…and even closer to home in his own County, he wanted to do something locally to give back to this cause.
John will get up to bat for the homeless at the 3rd Annual Harford Mutual Home Runs for the Homeless event to be held at Ripken Stadium, in Aberdeen Maryland on August 9th. Teams of four will bat at home plate at Ripken Stadium and have 15 tries each to hit a home run. While at bat, the player’s photo will be displayed on the scoreboard, just like in the Big League. The team with the overall longest yardage wins the contest and the coveted “Home Runs for the Homeless” trophy, to keep at their residence or business for one year. The trophy currently resides at the Rite Aid Distribution Center in Aberdeen, the event’s 2010 champions.
The cost for a team is $1,000, or $250 per player, and supports the programs at Harford Family House, a homeless shelter for families with children in Aberdeen. For more information contact Joyce Duffy at 410-273-6700.
John’s movie, 5 Days of War, is premiering soon in the States. John has been in Hollywood since the early 90’s, is also a writer, was married to Christina Applegate, and starred with Tom Hanks in “That Thing You Do”.
